A field of 16 candidates will contest the Secret Harbour District By-election on Saturday 29 August 2026. Following a random draw conducted by the Returning Officer, candidates will appear on the ballot paper in the following order:

“As with State elections, it’s compulsory for all eligible electors to vote in the Secret Harbour By-election. There are a range of simple voting options to help people elect their new member of Parliament,” WA Electoral Commissioner Dennis O’Reilly said.
“You can vote in-person on polling day on Saturday 29 August. If you can’t attend on polling day, or choose not to, you can cast an early vote in person from 17 August or apply for a postal vote.”
Voting options
- Vote at a polling place on Saturday 29 August A full list of polling places for electors to vote in in the Secret Harbour district on polling day will be published on the WAEC website once available.
- Early voting from Monday 17 August There will be an early voting location in the Port Kennedy area, Perth city, and for enrolled electors who are currently interstate, to vote in person prior to polling day. A full list of early voting locations will be published on the WAEC’s website closer to the period of early voting commencing.
- Apply for a postal vote Apply for a postal vote online or phone the WA Electoral Commission on 13 63 06. Applications for postal votes close at 6pm Wednesday 26 August 2026. There is no special reason required to apply for a postal vote. Postal votes must be received by the WA Electoral Commission by 9am Thursday 3 September 2026 to be included in the count.
